Ben is a Scottish word for hill or mountain. Rising to a modest 408m above sea level, Ben Hutig is one of the most Northerly hills in Scotland and is located on the Whiten Head peninsula in Sutherland.

Ben Hutig was formed approximately 430 million years ago and has since been shaped by numerous ice ages.
